There's been a lot of talk about the culture on the team and how some of the departing players have created a very cancerous atmosphere prior to departing. I heard some more info today that was concerning, and it's someone who is usually pretty in touch.
While the new staff worked very hard to create a family culture and atmosphere, this year in particular there has been a major lack of holding players accountable and it's permeated not just the players that have left, but some players who have chosen not to leave. I'm sure COVID and the lack of face to face time the coaches have had with the players has played a part in that culture deteriorating this year, and that it probably allowed the voices of dissent to be the loudest voices in the room and cause a larger problem than it might have in other years, but I was told it's widespread.
There are players on the team that have tried to step up as leaders and hold themselves and other teammates accountable, but not a lot of the team has been receptive. Their has been a lack of discipline that has allowed the negativity to fester.
I could be wrong on this, just inferring from what I was told and have read in other posts, but the high number of transfers, while concerning to us, may be more of a situation of the coaches trying to right the ship and asking guys to leave than the other way around.
Take it for what it's worth, but it didn't make me feel real good when I heard.
