As fun as realignment has been, questions about plumber recommendations, Chiefs offseason news or daily twitter threads I thought I'd attempt to start an actual football discussion here (sorry). What's everyone's thoughts on TT this year?
To me they're going to be the most interesting team in the Big 12. New coach who can seemingly recruit, and has tons of ties to HS in Texas but the question will be can he actually coach? And what exactly will he be running system wise? I also wonder how long the leash is because I honestly anticipate a rough year for them, he'll obviously get this year and more but will TT be frustrated and will some recruits start flipping if they have a tough year?
They have (probably) the roughest non-con in the Big 12. I understand UT hosts Bama, but other than that they play ULM and UTSA. TT plays 2 ranked non-con teams one at home in Houston and one on the road at NC State. NC State went 9-3 last year and has a QB who some have started to mock as a potential sleeper in next years draft. Houston they get at home but last year went 12-2 and beat Auburn in their bowl game (yes, Auburn wasn't that good but still). And UH didn't lose much off that pretty salty team from last year.
They also have an incredibly tough overall start to their season, they could very easily start the year with 1 win then have 5 straight loses followed by WVU, then Baylor to wrap up October. It wouldn't be wild to see them be 1-7 or 2-6 by the end of October.
TT Schedule:
9/3 Murray St
9/10 Houston
9/17 @ NC State
9/24 UT
10/1 @ K-State
10/8 @ OSU
10/22 WVU
10/29 Baylor
11/5 @TCU
11/12 KU
11/19 @ ISU
11/26 OU
I could see TT ending anywhere from 2-10 to 7-5. I do think 7-5 would probably require quite a few upsets and some bounces going their way though. That all being said that's sort of why I find them to be incredibly intriguing this year. The official Draft Kings O/U is 5.5 for them. I would feel pretty safe taking the under on that one, but all in all it's going to be intriguing following them this season.
