It dawned on us that it’s been a little more than a month since we launched K-StateOnline, and it seems like a good time to reflect on what we’ve quickly become and why - namely, your preferred destination for coverage of Kansas State athletics because this is what you demanded.
And we listened. Isn’t that refreshing?
This site has never been about Matt Hall, our senior writer in title but actually our jack-of-all trades - even though he’s a proud K-State alumnus and fan. It has never been about Derek Young, our relentless and plugged-in recruiting analyst. And it has never been about me, the site’s managing editor and columnist.
You are the site. You are the community. You are the reason we exist in these roles - and why we’re happy to deliver compelling and unique content each and every day because we understand this is what you wanted, this is what you deserve.
It’s what you’d been missing.
How do I know? Because you’ve told us.
A gentleman reached out just this morning via LinkedIn - I’m on there, hit me up and we’ll connect - and said, “Mr. Martin, I appreciate what you guys have done with the KSU Rivals site. Keep up the good work!”
I responded, telling him how awesome it was to wake up to that, and he wrote back again:
“I’ve never posted on the message boards, but I have been a member for years and visit daily. The difference in content is night and day. Much more enjoyable! Thank you for injecting energy into the site and I look forward to reading your stuff for years to come!”
He gets us - we love delighting you, bringing you daily surprises.
Want to know a secret? This job has never felt like work, not once in the 30-plus days since we’ve been around. That’s not a long time, but as the gentleman above suggested, we’re not going anywhere.
