I shared some of this in another thread, but I think it warrants some shared understanding, and it would be good to get the compliance aficionados to weigh in.
Basically, the recruiting calendar for the next ten weeks looks like this:
4/8-4/10: Eval Period (Go watch kids play)
4/11-4/14: Dead Period (We can call kids, but that’s it)
4/15-4/20: (Recruiting Period) We can host and/or make in-home visits
***Rodney Perry becomes official in this time frame***
4/21: Quiet Period (Kids can visit)
4/22-4/24: Eval Period (Go watch kids play)
4/25-4/28: Recruiting Period (We can host and/or make in-home visits)
***Last players enter the portal for 2022 eligibility in this time frame up until 5/1***
4/29-5/18: Quiet Period (Kids can visit)
5/19-5/27: Dead Period (We can call kids, but that’s it)
5/28-6/16: Quiet Period (Kids can visit)
6/17-Beyond: Mix of quiet periods and evaluation periods
Based on how the calendar falls, they are going to likely prioritize going to events based on the allowed activity. Here are the total days available until June 16 (Ten Weeks):
Eval Period: 6
Recruiting Period: 10
Dead Period: 13
Quiet Period: 41
What this means is that we have two big AAU weekends in the next three weeks. I’d imagine that the coaches will be there as opposed to hosting kids, but I think they could make it work if there was a kid they liked enough. However, they can’t sacrifice making connections and being seen at these events due to how much traction they already have with the 23, 24, and 25 classes.
After that, I imagine that it’s going to be difficult to pass up the chance to do a lot of in-homes during the Recruiting period. They only get ten days when they’re allowed to do that, so you may see that take priority over visits. This would be a great opportunity for the staff to get in the homes of priority guys that they are still tracking to break bread with mom and try and lock in visits.
While there haven’t been many days that kids could be on campus (today was the first day, realistically, since Tang has been hired), it is the most plentiful ‘resource’ we have available in the next several weeks. It makes sense to try and get kids to come one of those days/weekends so we can get the most out of the calendar as it stands.
Hopefully, breaking down the calendar makes more sense on our overall strategy, and how the coaches plan to move in the next couple of months.
