In reading another post about Eli Walker and how Snyder wanted to move him to LB to get him on the field but our lack of depth next year at S may prevent it.

In the early years of both 1.0 and 2.0 tons of guys moved positions just to get them on the field because we lacked athletes. Depth would be figured out later or plug in the walk-ons.

With the shift in emphasis a few years ago to get more HS kids and fewer juco guys it seems like our overall talent level is down but because we have all of this "depth" we don't feel the pressure to change things up and put the best athletes on the field.

The lack of talent is more about the lack of commitment to recruiting by most of the staff than the juco issue, it just seems that the idea of a deeper roster to turn over at some point has led to less productive roster to turn over to someone else.

I'm sure that I'm missing some examples recently bit what I can think of are:

Early 1.0
Pat Jackson both RB & WR
Kitt Rawlings RB to DB
Andre Coleman RB to WR
Elijah Alexander LB to DE
Moved a TE to OT forgetting the name
Those are what come to mind from the first 5 years.

First 5 Years of 2.0
Lamur to LB

Childs to LB
Klein to WR and back to QB
Kassanovoid to DE
David Garrett played all over the secondary

You get the point. I wonder if overrated depth is playing a role in keeping us from fielding the most athletic team we can.

What do you think??
