...is that he hasn't done anything to assure us it won't just happen all over again this year. ...and by "it", I'm not talking about the team's record, I'm talking about the ability to control, focus, and get the respect of his players.
I can't say I blame him, I'd try to skip over this and move on to the bright future side of things too. Bright future is an easier conversation and usually not measurable or full of commitment.
Personally, as a manager of expensive development projects and people, there is no way my boss allows me to skip over how I personally screwed up, or how I intend to make sure it will never happen again. I know we're not his boss, so we probably don't deserve to know, but you would think some of this would spill over into the public in some shape or form.
