I'm not disagreeing with the call at all because Cre Moore did lead with the crown of his head. It was a stupid play on his part and poor form tackling. He also could have hurt himself...there was a much better chance of him hurting himself than his opponent.

But if they're gonna call that...they better call it on everyone. And Mike Lee should be ejected in the first quarter of every game. They could probably call Targeting on damn near every play and for sure about each possession. My issue with Targeting is the inconsistency at which it's called and enforced. Your players are going to be guilty of Targeting multiple times each game. You just have to hope they don't call it on your best players early in the game.

I also disagree with ejecting the players in most cases. Sometimes it's completely warranted. If you want to call the personal foul, that's great. And maybe make them come out for that series...but not the whole game. I feel like it's getting ridiculous because you never know when it's actually going to get called and the punishment is so severe and oftentimes kicking the player out of the game is too extreme.

I'm all for player safety and am glad they look for Targeting. I just wish it was called consistently and the punishment was tweaked. They make it so severe to discourage doing it, but there are other extremely dangerous penalties that don't result in ejections like engaging high and low on a defensive lineman, etc. I think they should make Targeting a 15 yard penalty and at most make the player sit out a series, while I guess they could still allow the ejection if there was malice intent or on egregious plays. But please, get consistent on the call and use good judgment when enforcing it. I also hope the players learn to use better technique and eliminate the garbage hits to the head.
