Kansas State turned it on and torched TCU by 21 points in the first round of the Big 12 tournament. Good time to see the Wildcats finally play the best basketball of the season.

"Better now than not at all," Bruce Weber said after the game.

It is too bad that things may have to end tomorrow, but this win can for sure carry over into the offseason and keep this team together and with high hopes for the next season.

I thought they should have beaten Iowa State by more in the regular season finale since the Cyclones were without their best player, but K-State was dealing with some distractions too as Antonio Gordon was kicked off the team for disciplinary reasons. But they came to Kansas City on a mission and played their best

The first half was all Nijel Pack as he scored 11 points on efficient shooting. He continued that in the second half and Mike McGuirl came alive too. For the game Pack and McGuirl scored 40 of the Wildcats 71 points. McGuirl has a ton of success getting to the rim uncontested. Both also had 5 assists and Pack added 6 rebounds. They were both major in the blowout victory.

Selton Miguel played well. Still couldn't shoot it consistency but he was active on the glass and is still the defensive leader for this back court.

Bradford only played 21 minutes without a lot of foul trouble. Both him and Kaosi Ezeagu did well combining for 14 points and 14 rebounds.

DaJuan Gordon was good on the glass and had one really nifty reverse layup in the 2nd. He missed all 4 of his 3s though. Rudi Williams did alright in relief work finding ways to score twice in 17 minutes without a missed field goal.

Neither team dominated the glass (38-36 KSU). The Wildcats turned it over 8 times in the first half and only 5 times in the second. K-State forced TCU to turn it over a total 17 times. TCU actually won the points off turnovers battle (19-14). K-State won points in the paint 36-30. K-State held TCU to 37% (20/54) shooting and 21% from deep (4/19) and didn't have a single dunk. The Wildcats shot 48% (28/58) from the field and 33% from deep (7/21). Both teams went 50% from the free throw line (KSU 8/16, TCU 6/12).

Tomorrow will be a whole nother animal. Baylor is one of the best teams in the country and K-State will have to be even better than they were against TCU to even keep it close. McGuirl and Pack need another buddy tomorrow to step up offensively. They should be able to defend Baylor better than they did the first two times, but I just don't see it being enough. I hope they can pull off the miraculous win, but whatever the case, this team should feel good about this win today and they should use it to motivate them to get even better in the offseason and have a good spirited summer. It is their only convincing win against any Big 12 foe all season long. They didn't beat any Big 12 team by double-digits. You would have liked to see this all season, but now is not a bad time to start doing it and does give a glimmer of hope that the impossible could happen tomorrow. Tip is at 1:30.
