I have seen a lot of angst about his playing time because the depth chart said Delton was an OR with Hubener. I don't put a lot of stock in the depth chart that HCBS puts out. Too many times in the past (at all positions) the officially depth chart did not have much correlation to playing time or who actually started. Boston Stiverson is just the latest example of that.
I think timing of getting definitive information on Ertz injury may have also played a role. I am not sure that Delton was going to get any snaps at all if Ertz doesn't get injured (regardless of what HCBS said earlier in the week about all 3 playing). I think once they got info later in the game that Ertz is likely gone for the year, HCBS realized that Delton will now be the backup and he got backup reps.
