I have two different theories on the Weber announcement.
- The new A.D. (as @Richcat stated) has already been hired, has been made aware of needing to hire a new football coach this year & didn’t want to make two huge hires in the same year. The A.D. could’ve viewed this as a lot of uncertainty in the fan base & didn’t want to risk that all in one year. Plus they could’ve looked at it as everyone that they would’ve wanted to talk to has already been hired anyway.
- Leatch is going to be the A.D. and is ok with the trajectory that Weber is taking the team, and has decided that he deserves a 6th season, but that there are conditions that need to be met for him to be retained after next year.
