Three Positives:

  1. Collin Klein - The Wildcat OC came out with a dominant and effective game plan and put up the most 1st quarter points in seven years for the Wildcats with 28 (aware 7 were via defense). The offense only really slowed down in the second half when they were curating the 16 point lead, I would have liked more aggressiveness, but can’t fault it.
  2. Ben Sinnott - The K-State tight end deserves another big shoutout for his play in this game, he caught big passes early and the touchdown pass he caught was incredibly impressive. Sinnott is thrusting himself into the conversation for being an All-Big 12 tight end.
  3. Brendan Mott - Mott claimed three sacks on the day and when the defense was struggling he was able to make big plays and wrap up whoever had the ball for West Virginia. His three sacks in the game matches the season high for a game with Felix Anudike-Uzomah and Khalid Duke. It also ties for the fourth most in a game in K-State history.
  4. Honorable mention to Ty Zentner and Daniel Green and anyone that had the over 54.5!
Three Negatives
  1. Secondary - in the first game without Kobe Savage the Wildcats got burnt, but it wasn’t the replacements, it was Josh Hayes and Drake Cheatum that faltered early, allowing big touchdowns to Sam James. Later in the game Ekow Boye-Doe missed an interception that he should have claimed. Things improved slightly in the second half, but more of that has to do with West Virginia penalties and the defensive line applying more pressure.
  2. Joe Klanderman - Klanderman has been great all season, but you could tell he had two game plans for WVU, one for JT Daniels and one for Garrett Greene. The one for Greene clearly did not account for more throwing than running from the Mountaineer quarterback. It took a long time for his unit to adjust.
  3. Cincere Mason - the K-State DB was in the medical tent in the first half and eventually left the field and headed to the locker room early. Mason played well while he was out there, having a pick six. His status will be important to watch now that Savage is out for the season.
  4. One to watch is also Deuce Vaughn, didn't seem to run the same, Klieman says they regretted how long they used him against Baylor and he skipped Wildcat Weekly this week, only other time that happened was when he was dinged up after Iowa State
