if anyone wants to understand our offensive line and running game scheme turn on the Chiefs-Steelers game and watch the Steelers offensive line and running back.
The Steelers back hesitates and waits for his offensive line push and as the oline twists the defensive lineman to create a crease which the back takes. Has worked very well for them.
The problem with this approach at the college level involves a running back must have great vision and patience. We have been asking Barnes to do that and it's not his running style. (We also asked Charles Jones to do it the last three year and he couldn't do it either,)
The other issue with this approach is you have to have offensive lineman who can get a push. We have not had a group of lineman who have been able to do this since 2012. It takes almost NFL caliber players to do this.
Hence my frustration with the play calling we are not calling plays or schemes that highlight our players strengths and our blocking scheme is even difficult for NFL players to pull off.
