Brad was only at Okie State for one season before jumping at the money and going to Illinois.
Brad recruited 5 players at Okie State:
2 additions to the 2016 Class:
Tyrek Coger (passed away due to an enlarged heart - RIP).
Brandon Averette - transferred from Okie State.
2017 Class:
Zach Hanson - transferred after 1 semester
Souleymme Diakite -- ended up in New Jersey (never made it to Stillwater).
Latravian Glover -- ended up going to the Virgin Islands (never made it to Stillwater).
Oklahoma State's three best players were all part of the 2016 Class, but each player was signed by Travis Ford (well before Brad) = Cameron McGriff, Lindy Waters, & Thomas Dziagwa.
There is not one player on Okie State's roster that Brad brought to Stillwater in his one season (just 2 seasons ago).
The only thing that Underwood left at Oklahoma State was Lamont Evans, who just plead guilty to corruption / bribery.
Don't get me wrong here, I'm just stating cold hard facts.
I"m a Brad Underwood fan, heck I wanted K-State to hire Brad instead of Bruce ...but Brad did Okie State no favors.
I can't say that I feel as strongly about Brad as I once did (for one, had K-State hired Brad, he would have left K-State just as quick as he left Okie State -- huge contract with Illinois).
I still believe Brad will get things turned around at Illinois. He had a very good recruit class last year and has two quality big men signed for next season. Given his huge contract, Brad will have two more seasons after the current season to get things rolling at Illinois.
For now, the question will remain = can Brad recruit and win with his own players.
His star players at SFA, were recruited by the previous coach (most notabley - Succup).
Brad walked into a great situation at Okie State with one of the best back-courts in NCAA (Jawun Evans and Forte, who both suffered season ending injuries the prior season)... plus Carroll, Solomon, Hammonds, Dillard... Side Note: there wasn't much wrong with Travis Ford's recruiting.
GO CATS !
