We were on vacation in SW Penn this week so did the 40 min drive down to Morgantown. Wasn’t sure what to expect but I was honestly shocked at how “humble” the town, campus and stadium appear. The campus is literally surrounded by really run down ghetto quality housing. The campus downtown is stark, very few trees. The stadium is 42 years old and is very dated. Drove by a likely drug bust twice close to campus, one where four officers had their weapons draw around a dumpy house. Traffic was just driving past the scene w/o interruption. Anyway, Morgantown is a place with 31,000 population and a VERY dingy feel. I’m normally a person who can find positive things when visiting a new place. I’m kind of embarrassed they are in the B12. Obviously there are good people there but, man, the place is rough.
