GPC'ers,
I sit on the planning committee for the Wabash CannonBall, an event in Kansas City that raises money for KC area kids to attend K-State. The event is entering its 10th year and to date has awarded more $770,000 in scholarships to over 300 students.
This year's event is February 26 at the Overland Park Convention Center. There's no auction. No real program other than hearing from one or two past scholarship programs. Just a bar, a good meal, lots of purple, and live music by Atlantic Express. It's a good time.
We make money through table sales and through the Fund a Wildcat. Fund a Wildcat is where the table members individually donate and then the total donation amount for that table is calculated and the table is put into a raffle for prizes varying from iPads, Kindles, flat screens, to gift certificates to various hotels and restaurants. The level of prize depends on the total donation amount of the table. And it waterfalls down. So if you don't win anything at your level, you are still eligible for lower levels. Again, no live or silent auction where only about 5 people in the room can buy something. It's a great way to raise some money and not have to sit through 3 hours of watching bids.
We currently have some open spaces for tables if you or your company would like to be a sponsor at this event. Tables sit 8 people and table a sponsorship comes with various perks depending on the level. You can find out more about the event HERE and sponsorship levels by clicking on "Sponsorship Opportunities" at that website.
If you would like to sponsor a table or want additional information, drop me an email at jheidrick@polsinelli.com or give me a call at 816-572-4765.
Thanks.
Jay Heidrick
PS- This event raises about double what the Rock Chalk Ball and Tiger Ball raise each year.
