I watched a movie tonight, Jayhawkers. It’s the true story of Wilt Chamberlain’s life while attending KU. Wainwrights grandpa played a significant role in the story. It’s amazing how much prejudice was in Lawrence in 1950’s. Chamberlain was forbidden from eating in many Lawrence restaurants or staying with the tram in some hotels. Wainwrights grandpa was a real civil rights pioneer
Wainwright’s grandpa was Maurice King, KU’s first black starter back in the 50’s
