It seems obvious (based on our offers) to me that some of the walkons are going to be receiving scholarships this fall. This is OK with me as I believe our walkon program is an asset to the team and you have to reward the best of these players if you want to keep the program alive and well. I can see us handing out at least 4 more scholarships to walk ons and possibly more.
Some names I think that will get consideration:
Ian Patterson, Sr - kickoff specialist
Colborn Couchman, Sr - 2nd string LB and special teamer
Trent Tanking, Jr - 2nd string LB and special teamer
Davis Clark, Jr - 2nd string DE missed most of the season with injury
Ryan Mack, Jr - 2nd string DB at start of season. He played in 12 games last season
We seem to have room for 7 or 8 scholarships, but we only seem to be hitting the trail hard for 3 more recruits. It seems odd to me that new greyshirt names are popping up, but not immediate schollies. To me the explanation is that we are going to reward some walkons.
No inside information. Iam just trying to reconcile the numbers.
