Walter Payton & KSU

[Pickle Farmer]

Just finished watching the 30 for 30 on the 1985 Chicago Bears. Went to Walter Payton's Wikipedia page and it references him "originally committing to Kansas State University" before eventually ending up at Jackson State. His freshman year was 1971. Anyone know the story why he didn't end up in Manhattan?
