For a 10 year period from the mid-60s to the mid-70s, a group of studio musicians in Los Angeles were responsible for laying down the tracks for dozens (hundreds?) of top hits. About 20 guys and a couple of gals you've mostly never heard of (besides Glenn Campbell), but definitely heard. They were known as The Wrecking Crew, and a documentary about them was just recently released. The film is being shown at The Modern Art Museum of Ft Worth this weekend, and last night two of them (Joe Osborn and Mike Deasy) were there for a Q&A following the film. These guys are in their 70s now, but haven't lost much. They did everything from The Monkees to Frank Sinatra, with The Beach Boys, Righteous Brothers, The Association, Mama & Papas, Elvis, Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass, 5th Dimension, Sonny & Cher, Paul Revere & the Raiders, Tommy James & the Shondells, Johnny Rivers, TV theme songs for Mission Impossible, Hawaii 5-O, MASH, Bonanza, and on and on. They were pretty much recording anywhere from 6 to 12 songs A DAY, 5 days a week, for 10 years.

I played along with Joe Osborn's stuff back when I was learning bass. I was like a kid in a candy store listening to these guys.

Anyway, sorry for changing the subject. Back to the war.
