Football Week 2: Final Walk through

Hope to make this a weekly content item for each Friday night or Saturday morning, depending on the time of the game. It's the latest rumblings of the week and what we're hearing leading up to kickoff.

- Scott Frantz is expected to start as normal at left tackle, despite not getting all the reps this week. I do get the sense that they would like to limit his snaps. I wonder if when Rivas checks into the game, if it'll be Frantz that exits rather than Curl. And Mitchell goes to RT and Kaltmayer at LT, of course.

- It sounds like we could see more Jax Dineen this week and likely less Mason Barta. I don't know how significant the change will be. Lenners will of course assume some fullback duties, too.

- While they may consider what they did on offense last week to be "vanilla" for them, it surely wasn't vanilla for us watching. No inside information here but I imagine that they want to increase the amount of stuff that Mississippi State has to prepare for so I don't expect them to get conservative and reserved in week two.

- While Monday may not have been a terrific practice, immediately after the win over Nicholls, it sounds like the rest of the week has exceeded expectations and their handling their early success well. It's been great practices ever since.

- I don't know that it will reveal itself to any of us that are watching the game but there's some chatter coming out that Jacardia Wright has been with the regulars and Joe Ervin with the scout team this week. That would be almost a flip of roles. It might not be a coincidence that Jacardia Wright was the offensive scout team player of the week last week.

- Basketball official visitors Gethro Muscadin and Selton Miguel are already in town. Football official visitor, defensive end Johnny Walker of Tampa, is expected to arrive tomorrow morning.
