1) Oklahoma - They built a nice early lead on the road against Baylor, but then lost focus and let Baylor score 21 unanswered points to make a game out of it. The Sooners responded and had the Bears down 3 scores mid way through the 4th quarter. It was not the dominating performance one would expect, but it was good enough to keep them in the #1 spot. Last Week: #1, Next Week: BYE

2) TCU - In the Big 12 game of the week TCU knocked off Oklahoma State 44-31 in Stillwater. The TCU offense showed good balance and they won the turnover battle. On defense they were able to limit the Cowboys to 3.3 YPC on the ground while sacking Rudolph 3 times and forcing 3 interceptions. This was the Horned Frogs second road win over a P5 opponent. Last Week: #3, Next Week: BYE

3) Texas Tech - They are undefeated and their non-con schedule was stronger than usual. This week they went on the road and beat Houston 27-24. Houston is a good football team that had already knocked off one P5 team this season. The Red Raider's had 3 plays of 70+ yards on Saturday (Two of which were runs). Houston turned the ball over 6 times, good defense? poor luck? They beat Az State last week and the Sun Devils knocked off Top 25 Oregon this week. I am still not sold that they belong this high, but can't argue with their results. They will have an opportunity to prove their worth this week with an angry OK ST. coming into Lubbock. Last Week: #4, Next Week: Oklahoma St.

4) Oklahoma State - Losers this week at home to TCU. I wanted to drop them further, but I couldn't really justify it given how bad WVU's defense looked against KU. They were missing a couple of offensive linemen and it showed. They rely on their offense to win them games and it wasn't there this week. Their SOS also took a hit with Pitt and Tulsa both losing again (both are 1-3). Last Week: #2, Next Week: @ Texas Tech

5) West Virginia - They beat the Jayhawks by 22 points, but somehow looked bad doing it. Their offense put up an impressive 634 yards and 56 points. Grier threw for nearly 350 yards and they had two backs top the century mark on the ground. The issue is that they let a KU offense that was averaging under 4 ypc against MAC competition gash them for 367 yards on the ground (7.3 YPC)
Last Week: #5, Next Week: BYE

6) Texas - Bye week. How good is their moral victory against USC? The Cal Bears hung with USC for 3+ quarters this week. No reason to move them up. No reason to drop them. Last Week: #6, Next Week: @ Iowa St.

7) Iowa State - Bye Week. They moved up a spot due to Iowa's strong showing against Penn St and Vandy's blowout loss to Alabama. At this point ISU has played a more difficult schedule than Kansas State and has looked just as good or better doing it. Last Week: #8, Next Week: Texas (at home on Thursday Night)

8) Kansas State - Bye Week. Still reeling from the loss to Vandy. Vandy was blown out at home by Alabama this week 59-0. The Tide ran for almost 500 yards while Vandy failed to break 100 yards of total offense. Charlotte is currently 0-4 and they were shut out by Georgia State yesterday. Last Week: #7, Next Week: Baylor

9) Baylor - They still have not won a game, but they have played reasonably well the last two weeks against two undefeated P5 opponents (14 point loss at Duke, 8 point loss to Oklahoma). Last Week: #9, Next Week: @ Kansas State

10) Kansas - Lost by 22 points at home to WVU. Their defense is a sieve, but the offense was pretty good (especially the running game) this week. Last Week: #10, Next Week: Bye
