Next year, KSU could have 5 QB's on the roster, so what do you think will happen? Let's look at each individual player.
Senior = Hubener. I'm not 100% certain on this, but I really don't see anyone else going in to next year as the #1 QB. Hubener has played reasonably well so far this year (knock on wood) & he will have two years of playing the position at KSU. There is a very good chance that he will have the best knowledge of the playbook as well. Hubener will be a senior, so he isn't going anywhere.
Junior = Banks (if he doesn't redshirt). Banks very well could be the wild card at this position. Snyder said that he is improving & coming along. But many had believed that before Ertz got hurt that Banks was probably going to switch position, which is why he was redshirting. If Banks does redshirt, then he would be a sophomore next year & there would be a serious log-jam at this position.
Sophomore - Ertz. This is going to be a very difficult decision for both the coaching staff & Ertz. At what point do the coaches tell him that he needs to look out for his health & they need to do what is in the best interest of the football team? Can you imagine how hard it would be for Ertz to walk away? I mean the kid has played approximately TWO snaps in college football.
Redshirt Freshman - Delton. From what @rrippe said, it sounds like Delton will be recovering for only 4 weeks, but the coaches are not going to rush him back & he will likely redshirt this season (medical redshirt).
True Freshman - Thompson. We don't know anything about this kid other than he is a 4* QB.
So again, what should happen with this position. KSU has NEVER seen depth like this at this position before, but it very well could be unwanted depth. KSU has other positions that they need to recruit & holding 5 QB's could hinder that. But then again, this year also goes to show that you need QB's and a lot of them, especially in this offensive system that beats up & gets it's QB's injured.
