A lot of folks say it's a show for the hatred of GOP establishment, but they have Cruz to vote for who is more conservative and has shown in Congress his willingness to stand up to the establishment and how government functions.

Is it that the GOP base is more moderate than originally thought? Cruz is the more consistently conservative and Trump has switched positions frequently and even staked out semi-moderate positions.

Is it that a huge percentage of the GOP base is racist? What has distinguished Trump more than anything is his willingness to play to bigotry and demagoguery.

Is it the base is ignorant and more willing to follow the carnival barker/shiny object than listen to the substance?

Thoughts?
