So, what if we would have hired Patterson instead of Wefald bringing Coach back? What if (as is has been suggested he would) Coach went somewhere else and eventually(by now) won a national title? Even if GP would have been reasonably successful here, people would be apoplectic at the lost opportunity. Kinda like having 2 former coaches in the Final four. Who knows. Patterson might have been wildly successful here or wildly mediocre. Underwood might have been on his way to building a title team here or building mediocrity. It is a big unknown bringing in a new coach. KU fans hated the Williams hire until he started to win. Not sure I have any real point other than any of these moves are a gamble.
