I still think it should be Skylar Thompson. Alex Delton looked great against a team that gave up 200+ yards rushing per game this season. Having him run the wildcat gave us an extra blocker and UCLA couldn't adjust to it. Alex is a dynamic runner and he was the better match up for this game. Skylar is clearly injured and hasn't been the same since he went out against OSU. I believe the lower body injury he sustained in that game changed the game plan for the bowl game. We clearly weren't comfortable with him running the ball in the game and our traditional run game wasn't going (or being called in the game). Our game plan completely changed when we had a healthy QB that could run. All of this being said I believe Skylar, when he is healthy, next year should be our starting QB. He is not a bad runner (see his early action in mop up duty this season), he can deliver the ball any where on the field (see OSU game) and he is the harder scout for teams when he is healthy (see ISU when we opened the play book).
Alex deserves the praise he is getting but I don't think we need to take this game and make it the defining moment for our starting QB position next season.
IMO
