As ATL joins the list of cities burning, I continue to read about how Rayshard Brooks was killed for "sleeping in his car" or "sleeping in the drive thru". Neither one is true. Rayshard Brooks was killed for assaulting police and stealing a Taser during the fight. I have yet to see video to see if he aimed the Taser at police as claimed, but if so, use of deadly force is warranted. It may be warranted when you decide to fight the police.

At the rate we are going, you won't have to worry about defunding the police. All the good ones will quit. You cannot set the equation up to allow defendants to engage in physical altercations with police with the hands of the police tied behind their back. At what point does deadly force become necessary? When you are getting your head pounded on the pavement? When you are getting Tased? When they have stolen your Taser in a physical fight? Police make these decisions in a split second. When they make them badly, they need to be held accountable. But don't repeat the phony narrative that Rayshard was killed for sleeping. It simply isn't true.

If you want a diverse police force, criminals need to be deterred by the potential use of deadly force at ALL times. I saw two cops yesterday when I was eating lunch. Both women half my size. If we go to the ground in a fight, I will win. Without the credible use of potential deadly force, you will wind up with a police department full of linebackers wanting to fight. It won't be pretty.
