There was a good Barnes article in the Joplin Globe this morning. The quote in the article from Dimel certainly leaves the door open for Silmon. Following is an excerpt from the article.
Dimel was asked whether he thought Barnes would start the season as the feature back, and though he didn’t commit to saying who his top ball carrier would be, he had nothing but glowing recommendations for Barnes.
“That’s a tough question to answer because becoming the lead back for our program is a tough deal,” he said. “I think he has the ability to be a lead back in anybody’s program. We will just have to wait and see how it all plays out. We are going to try and run as many (offensive) plays as we can because Alex deserves to get a lot of touches and so does a lot of other guys we have. It’s a good dilemma to be in, but Alex definitely possess all of the characteristics we look for in a lead back. That’s for sure.”
