Many others have shared what they know about K-State's senior defensive tackle, so I'll go ahead and provide my two cents on the subject based on what's been passed along my way.
In case you're in the dark, there have been reports on the boards here from various posters that Will Geary is no longer part of the K-State football team. Over the past 24 hours, I've spoken with two separate folks with ties to the program who have informed me that those rumors aren't entirely accurate.
On one hand, Geary is not currently "with" the team for reasons unknown (or at least they weren't going to tell me). That much seems true because both of my sources were certain that he has not been practicing at the very least. Now, does that also include absence from team meetings and other off the field portions of the program? I'm not sure. My guess would be yes but I can't say with much confidence.
On the other hand there's the question of will or won't Geary be back this season. One source felt that he would, saying that (in his mind) he was still a member of the team and that players in the locker room expect him back for fall camp later this summer. However, my other source was unsure, believing that while the door may be open for a return, the staff was moving forward with the idea that Trey Dishon and Ray Price will be the two guys (with or without Geary).
I tend to think we'll see Geary back for his senior year this fall. Again, I could be way off but that's just my personal opinion given Bill Snyder's history with giving players multiple chances -- more specifically, players who deserve multiple chances. Whatever is giving Geary problems, I don't think he's the type of person who Snyder is at his wit's end with. He's a hard worker, a well liked teammate by all accounts, who simply has hit a bump (or bumps) in the road.
Here's hoping Will gets back on track and is welcome to return. Without him, the Wildcats will have to replace a career 30-game starter and the first defensive tackle in school history to earn two-straight First Team All-Big 12 honors.
