Reached out to Xavier Davis and others close to him last night in an effort to get an idea of where he'll sign today. For those out of the loop with him, his decision will come down to K-State, Michigan State, and Oregon State -- odds are it will be KSU or OSU.
Xavier himself responded around midnight PST and said "No, sorry for getting back so late" when questioned if he had an idea where he'd commit/sign today.
Another source at his school, whom I would estimate to be a B-level source based on his knowledge of Xavier in the past, told me he had no idea but added "I'd say OSU was always his top choice and I never heard anything to change that".
A person connected to the Oregon State recruiting side of things added another interesting caveat to the possibilities. He claims in a conversation he had with Davis a week ago, the defensive end described to him how he might quit football altogether. Shocking to say the least.
Meanwhile, those in the know on the K-State side seem to be much more comfortable heading in to today. No one is willing to come out and say it will be K-State, but there seems to be less nerves (in my opinion) about this otherwise confusing recruitment. If there were any additional positive signs pointing towards K-State with Davis, it might be his recent social media activity, which include the new followings of Sean Snyder and John Currie in addition to a retweet about Reggie Walker earning freshman All-American honors. Of course, if you follow recruiting closely, those aren't exactly examples you run to the bank with.
Keep in mind that all this comes after Davis tweeted this yesterday...
Welcome to the wonderful world of recruiting! Pima is not scheduled to hold any sort of signing ceremony today and Davis is reportedly back home with his family in Phoenix, so who knows what time a commitment will be announced. All we have to go on right now is Davis' word that he'd commit on December 14, which of course is today.
