seems to me . . .

the president should acknowledge mistakes were made, troops died, not everyone we want to get out will get out, and that is solely on him as commander in chief - he accepts full responsibility, no excuses, no blame on others, no rationalizing otherwise.

let his administration staff commend him for accepting sole responsibility but qualify that is really not the case, it shouldnt be on him, there were others in the room with him that he was dependent on, empathize with his situation and no win decisions made, make the excuses, place blame on others and rationalize for him, talk up the incredible numbers of evacuees, condemn the deaths that were incurred but tout that it was incredible there weren't more given the threat, and spin away on his behalf.

the spin isn't effective coming from him but could be from his staff, gives the supportive media a positive story to hang their hat on, and gives the critical media one less thing to criticize him for.

just my thoughts (even though I don't believe the spin one bit)
