-Better student section than I expected....can't say same about other sections.
-New entry ways on NW & NE sides at least add a little character to the building. Open Shamrock zone impressive. Carryover to south (Bramlage) was meh.
-Hope the young 20 somethings in Section 13 have season tickets.....those around will know.
Very quick bullet comments on each....
-Ezeago: Gosh darn it, my 85 year old dad walks better than him. Hope his knee holds up. Skill wise, looked same as last year (raw banger).
-Kasubke: Probably mental, but just not clicking for him. Even his defense was suspect last night (step slow, out of position led to some reach fouls). Wish he could just hit a couple shots.
-Landers: Project. Good initial outing, but he won't see many minutes. Good sign if he does (if he can still a few of Eze's minutes). Seems to have pretty good hands and a sweet looking shot, though. Runs the floor fairly well.
Massoud: One outing, but expected more. Pretty rigid. Have to remember he's only a sophomore. Funky shot, but it's pretty soft. I think he can be a good stretch 4, but need to see more.
-McGuirl: Same
-Migel: Will be the leader, IMHO. Still loves his right, but shot looks better and he's a dog on defense. Max effort guy. Body is impressive.
-Nowell: About what I expected. Take good with bad. He'll have his moments where he can change the game (for both sides, unfortunately). Glad to have him, though. He can definitely take a little pressure off of Pack. Love his hustle and attitude (after one game lol).
-Pack: Thicker. Not sure if it's b/c he hasn't practiced or weight room. Definitely rusty. It'll be awhile before he's the Pack we remember. It's obvious the hip is still bothering him, too.
-Smith: Much different from what I expected. Talk about thick. I liked the way he didn't force things offensively. Has better all around game than what I expected. Rebounding.........reminded me of Beasley as far as knack for knowing how ball was going to carom off the rim. He was always around the ball.
Chemistry seemed great. As a whole, team has so many more pieces compared to this time last year. Two best players basically sidelined last night.
