Everytime I read about a high school recruit from Kansas taking a trip to Oregon or Texas or Florida, I run it through the prism of gasoline costs and increased airfares. Young kids frequently get homesick far away from home and parnet generally want to see (in person) their kids play games. As the higher energy costs affedt ravel in the next few months, I believe this issue will be the key issue influencing their decisions on where to go to college. I believe there are exceptions to this idea such as some outstanding player who may recieive a large amount of NIL funding, but for most players, there will not be millionaire making NIL amounts paid to them. Strong regional recruiting will be ever more important than it already is.
