Of course there are always going to be examples of over achievers and the flat out missed when it comes to recruiting, and we all understand that it's also about finding players with the right mentality and work ethic to capitalize on their talent or potential... but in the grand scheme of things, when you want to play for and win championships, stars help. Last night's game was no exception to that.
As someone pointed out to me on Twitter this morning, on a single game basis, stars probably don't mean as much because anything can happen with good coaching and discipline. Over the course of the season though, you'll find over and over that the teams playing for the highest of championships are going to have highly rated recruits. It's certainly not a perfect science, but there's proof to the fact that stars mean something.
