K-State WBB signs three recruits on the beginning of National Signing Day

K-State announced the signing of three women's basketball commits today: Jordan Speiser (Warrenton, Missouri), Aniya’ Foy (Katy, Texas), and Gina Garcia Safont (Barcelona, Spain). The class currently ranks No. 6 in 2025, according to ESPN.com.

Foy was the first to commit and has since impressed. Through nine games this season, Foy is averaging 20.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, 2.8 steals, and 1.7 assists. She owns the school records for points in a game (42) and points in a season (694 in 2023-24).

Mittie on Foy: “Foy is one of the elite athletes in the country that has a smooth pull-up jumper and an explosive first step off the bounce. She continued to impress our staff throughout her summer of competition.”

Speiser is the highest-ranked recruit in the class, currently coming in as a five-star recruit by ESPN. Speiser was named to the 2024-25 Naismith Trophy Girl's High School Player of the Year Preseason Watchlist. She's impressed on the summer scene, shooting 47.3% in EYBL. She helped lead her high school to a state championship in 2023.

Mittie on Speiser: “Speiser is one of the most dynamic scorers in the country with unlimited range and ability to shoot the three-ball. Her work ethic and passion for the game was evident throughout the recruiting process.”

Garcia Safont has played for Spain in five different international teams and is one of the top international prospects in the country. She helped lead Spain to a bronze medal in the FIBA U17 World Cup, averaging 5.1 assists per game. She also won a silver medal at the FIBA U18 Women’s Eurobasket, averaging 5.1 points, 4.0 assists, and 2.1 rebounds per game.

Mittie on Garcia Safont: "Garcia Safont is one of the top international point guards in the 2025 class,” Mittie said. “She possesses excellent vision, elite passing skills and range on her 3-point shot. Her experience and success in every tournament this summer was impressive."

WBB Injury Update

Jeff Mittie met with the media today and offered updates on center Ayoka Lee and guard Taryn Sides, who missed the 'Cats game against Belmont with injuries.

Mittie said he feels pretty good about both of them playing against Creighton but mentioned that Lee is further ahead than Sides. The full quote is as follows:

"I think so. Lee's a bit further ahead than Sides. Sides, we've tried to keep controlled contact a little bit, so Lee's further head.

Lee really hasn't had any restrictions other than just not wanting to go too long with her. But with a veteran, you don't have to. It's not like she needs the reps. She needs a few reps. I feel good about both of them, but Lee's further ahead than Sides."

If Sides is unable to play, I expect Mittie to run a similar rotation to the Belmont game on Thursday. Effectively, Jaelyn Glenn, Serena Sundell, and Temira Poindexter would see increased playing time without the guard depth.
