Crazy Big 12 Scenario

Looking at the standings and the rest of the schedule, it is very possible for there to be 4 teams with a 8-1 conference record.

ISU 4-0 TT, KU, CIN, UTAH, KSU---Should be favored in all games
BYU 4-0 UCF, UTAH, KU, ASU, HOU--Should be favored in all games but probably will lose 1
KSU 3-1 KU, HOU, CIN, ASU, ISU--Should be favored in all but ISU
CU 3-1 CIN, TT, UTAH, KU, OSU--Should be favored in all games

Thus, if KSU can beat ISU and the rest of the games are chalk that would leave 4 teams at 8-1

Tiebreaker???

KSU would have played the other three tied teams (and beaten two of them). But ISU, BYU, and CU would have only played KSU. Would this mean that the CCG would be KSU vs BYU (the only team to defeat KSU)???

Fundamentals.....techniques? What the......

Okay, I've been one of those, in years past, that's been accused of "drinking the kool-aid" and sticking up for our team when that may have been questionable. That's because I bleed purple and learned "K-State" before mommy and daddy! Dang, that game in Houston was just awful in so many ways for this arm chair q-back. Rainy conditions have to be a challenge, but that's the same for each team. Two bad snaps for extra points, aaarrgh! I hear Coach repeating "fundamentals and techniques" being a problem. There are only 3 games guaranteed left to play and I'm thinking someone on staff would have been able to work out fundamentals and techniques by now. Sounds like it's acknowledged we should have lost maybe 3 games because of "f's and t's" but managed to pull those out of the fire. I'm sad for the Cats as I know they truly want to win, this is a lot less fun for them than it is for us fans.....wondering if somehow this year's team got over-hyped. Get it together, guys and the buck stops at the top, Coach. EMAW (Mrs. Ron)

What KSU fans need to know about Big 12 tiebreakers

(1) KSU, ISU, and BYU control their own destiny. If any of these teams win out they are in.

TWO TEAM TIEBREAKERS FOR SECOND PLACE
KSU-BYU---BYU
KSU-ISU OR CU--KSU (ASSUMES KSU BEATS ISU)
ISU-BYU OR CU--ISU
BYU-CU--CU
BYU-ISU--ISU

THREE TEAM TIEBREAKERS
BYU, ISU, KSU---KSU AND ISU
BYU, ISU, CU---ISU AND CU
ISU, KSU, CU--KSU AND ISU

FOUR TEAM TIEBREAKERS
BYU, ISU, KSU, CU--KSU AND ISU

TAKEAWAYS
BYU really needs to avoid any tiebreakers and thus win out.
KSU really favored in all multi team tiebreakers but really needs to beat ISU
CU only gets in if it wins out and BYU and KSU lose a game somewhere
ISU needs to be rooting for a BYU loss as this gives ISU another path to Arllington

Max Jones injury update

Cal State Fullerton transfer Max Jones didn't participate in the MBB exhibition and was seen on the sideline in a walking boot. After the game, Jerome Tang said that Jones suffered a toe injury and it that it isn't considered serious. With this being an exhibition, I imagine they felt comfortable with him sitting it out to not aggravate anything. He was on the sideline the whole game and was involved in huddles and timeouts. He should have a major role this season, and there's a good chance he starts at one of the guard spots.

We'll see if he plays on Tuesday against New Orleans. It's possible they rest him until he's 100% healthy, but it doesn't seem like there's any concern about this being a nagging issue.

Questions?

1. What did WVa and KU do to bottle up Giddens? That also means, what were we not doing?

2. We obviously struggled to stop the QB run the last two weeks. What’s going on with that?

3. We had a lot of visitors last weekend, I presume we will get a follow up report?

4. Any more news with the BB team with regard to progress etc? That may be hard to say until we actually begin the season.
