Bill Snyder’s attention to detail is legendary. Upon completion of the new Vanier Family Football Complex, he timed how long it took him to walk from his office to the team meeting room. Practices and routines are figured down to the minute.

So the apparent maddening inefficiency with which offensive play calls are delivered from the coaches’ booth to the sideline, and to quarterback Jesse Ertz, has been met with frustration from K-State fans, along with Snyder, who in the midst of a bizarre sequence of timeouts during the second quarter at West Virginia this past weekend, finally shot a disgusted look captured by TV cameras.

“There are elements in getting the play out of the press box, getting the signals, getting it to the quarterback, getting the quarterback in and out of the huddle, and everyone else, so there are a lot of elements to it and all of them were not what they needed to be,” Snyder said at his weekly news conference Tuesday. “That’s my responsibility, my fault.
