First, I just want to say how impressed I am with Matt, Derek, and all of the staff. I’m very very new here and have been pulled in by the coaching search and the $99 store credit deal that Matt posts about every 4 hours :)

I used to lurk and post on the old Scout.com board back when I was a teenager and Prince was hired. I used to dress up in those Halloween costumes as a KState player and run around my backyard with my personalized #7 jersey. Michael Bishop is the first KState player I can remember and I will never forget my mom throwing me on her shoulders and running around the house when we FINALLY beat Nebraska in ‘98. (Anyone remember that old Briggs commercial with the Green Day song and Bishop?) I became very busy the last couple of years finishing a healthcare degree and found myself just not as interested in KState Football as I had once been. It felt like it was lacking the passion and the excitement that once made me consider Saturday a holiday. I just couldn’t justify the monetary expense anymore. I was honestly ashamed to share that because I always considered myself a diehard. Come to find out I wasn’t alone in these feelings and actions.

This whole Snyder ordeal tugged at the heartstrings. Like most, I felt awkward. Mad because I knew the program was in decline and sad for the man/coach I idolized. It’s somewhat similar to having to discuss with an older person that they’re not as independent anymore and it’s time to let someone else help them (or in this case, take over). Also advice some of our political leaders should take but save that for another day ;)

The point is: I feel invigorated by this change and while I ABSOLUTELY cherish Coach Snyder and all of the memories; I am incredibly excited for the future. I think the same can be said for boosters as well. BSFS will become a daunting place to play again for visitors with a new young coach modernizing our program. I think it’ll have an amazing affect on a new generation of Wildcat fans and recruits.
