With all of the recruiting chatter over the past few days, I decided to take a look back through the rivals database. I found this interesting:
2013 signed (year immediately following a conference title):
6 recruits with a 5.4 rating
6 recruits with a 5.5 rating
2 recruits with a 5.6 rating
1 recruit with a 5.7 rating
2 recruits with a 5.8 rating (from my understanding, a 5.8 rating is essentially a four star that was rated a three to keep the number of four stars down)
2014 signed:
1 recruit with a 5.3 rating
5 recruits with a 5.4 rating
5 recruits with a 5.5 rating
2 recruits with a 5.6 rating
5 recruits with a 5.7 rating

I'm very aware that recruiting rankings/ratings don't tell the full story, but it appears that while our overall classes improved slightly over the past three seasons - 2016's class looks to be nearly disastrous in comparison, as there is a clear lack of top end talent. Based on this data, I think the concern over this season's (and future seasons going forward with Bill at the helm) quality of recruiting is certainly warranted. Also, would anyone care to venture a guess as to the last two recruits on this list with a 5.8 rating?
