Received further confirmation this morning from our friends at HuskerOnline that Mason Barta, son of Wildcat great Brooks Barta, does indeed hold an offer from K-State. We're hearing that it is only a greyshirt spot right now though.
Barta also holds offers from Charlotte, Cornell, and South Dakota. Rumor has it that KU recently extended a scholarship as well.
A decision could be coming sooner rather than later. You'd have to think his K-State lineage would put the Wildcats out in front.
Watching film, he reminds me a lot of Jonathan Truman (even down to his number). Heady player, sure tackler. Lacks that elite speed K-State probably would like, but doesn't mind getting his nose dirty with physical play. He has a good frame and with a year or two of greyshirt/redshirt work, could wind up becoming a good addition for K-State if that's the route he chooses.
