When Big 12 got in bed with Fox, ESPN started downplaying Big 12 and mentioning SEC as much as possible ...
Big 12 is "Big East 2.0," because of the situation the league has found itself in. When the Big East went against ESPN (by looking at other networks), the "mother ship" began to criticize the conference publicly and call into question its strength and ability to retain members. This was despite having the best bowl record in the BCS era and multiple national championships in basketball. So when I reference the Big East in regards to the Big 12, I'm simply saying the situations are similar in that it appears like ESPN wants fans to view the Big 12 as weak or inferior in comparison to other power conferences despite success on the field.
If the Big 12 is still fighting a negative perception in the public eye and ESPN is still painting it as the weakest power conference, the biggest names will bolt the moment the GoR expires.
