I don't think LHCBS has ever stated this is his last season and I don't believe he is chasing the 200 win goal. He has stated several times that he is taking it one season at a time and as long as he feels he is helping the team, and the administration still wants him, he will continue to coach. (As long as his health remains good.)

For Coach Snyder it has never been about a certain number of seasons or the number of wins, It's not about his place in college football history, or even the hall of fame. He is proud of what he has done and should be. No, It is about him making a difference in the young men's lives in his program, his love of Kansas State people, coaching, and Kansas State football. It shows in the name on the stadium. Coaching is his life, his passion, and what drives him forward. It's about preparing his players in his program for life after Kansas State football. He has touched many lives and prepared them for the future.

He has tried retiring and didn't like it. He regretted his first retirement right away and jumped at the chance to return. He is not the kind that wants to take it easy. He wants to remain relevant and active and making a difference. In truth he loves coaching, the players that have gone through his program, and those on the team now. It is hard to walk away from something you love doing. I don't think he is ready to step down and his age has nothing to do with his ability to coach. I for one am glad. I admit I care deeply about coach Snyder. He is one of my heroes and one of the nicest guys I have ever met.

It is obvious the players on our team and the new recruits want to have him as their coach because he cares so much about them, and they want to be in a family atmosphere. They recognize he is a legend and he is the real deal. Yet so many on this board ,bring up his age like he can't be effective. Lots of men older than he have led this nation or huge corporations. Age is not always a limiting factor.

One day he will have to step down for health or other reasons. It will be a sad day for me and an end to an era. I believe he will step down if he has another losing season, or if we don't keep our string of going to bowl games intact. That is why he retired the first time. Last season the team suffered many injures to key positions and if that happened again it might alter his thinking. After all injuries like last season are not in his control. The day will come when he will step down. I just hope it is a few years away and we keep having more winning seasons with Coach Snyder. My hope is whom ever comes next is from his coaching tree and wants to keep a similar program based on his 16 goals and family.
