I sold my Colt LE6920 last year after I had a string of unexpected bills while I was trying to buy an engagement ring. I thought I might just not get another Modern Sporting Rifle, but I do think I will, but probably once the market settles down next year. I am curious what you guys think will be the value holders or appreciating guns, not specific to Modern Sporting Rifles.

I have always gone off of 3 things: 1) strong military pedigree 2) very familiar to people, especially in video games 3) not the most common thing in the entire world. The Colt LE6920 was definitely all three of those things. They were somewhat common, but not compared to the bushmaster ARs that flooded the market.

I have 3 in mind, but would like to hear other thoughts on the topic or on other things you think will do well over time, regardless of firearm category.

Current top three
1) FN M4, basically along the lines of the LE6920, for a civilian, it's extremely close to what is produced for the military, its well known and found in every modern game, and it is definitely hundreds more than other options, so doubtful they exist in huge numbers.
2) FN SCAR, my all-time favorite. These are pretty hard to come by because of some manufacturing site change or something. They are stupid expensive. However, they have a huge popularity among anyone that has played video games. Because they are stupid expensive, I think they exist in numbers small enough that they will always demand a premium.
3) HK 556A1, the closest civilian variation to the HK 416 that killed Bin Laden. This is lesser known for sure and ridiculously expensive, but I really think these have sold in very small numbers and may be worth a great premium in the future.

Thoughts?
