While we continue to debate the Dean Wade medical file I thought I would weigh in on what we've just seen this year.
Picked 8th finished 4th, positive.
Lost to KU three times, Tech twice and West Virginia (boat raced) twice, negative.
Beat UT, Iowa State, Baylor, and Oklahoma St both times we faced them, positive.
Had no post presence, real shooters, and 2-star bench players, negative.
We lost to Tulsa in Wichita, really negative.
Won the first game of the Big 12 Tournament, then took another chainsaw beating by KU, negative.
Beat Creighton in Foster's revenge game, positive.
Beat a history-making 16 seed in one of the sloppiest games ever seen, ahh somewhat positive.
Got the monkey off our back by beating Kentucky, VERY positive.
Lost to Loyola Mother of Holy Acceleration. No doubt that ANY of our previous 7 Elite 8 teams since our last Final 4 team (in 1964) would have beaten them. EXTREMELY negative.
That game last night was the gift of a lifetime. I would put it in the same boat as 98 K-State football in St. Louis as far as getting to the holy grail.
But....... even I understand this team overachieved despite multiple shortcomings.
Can we play faster and above the rim for once?
Let's hope somehow we get some positive additions for next year. But this team has mental mountains it has beat, demons if you like.
