FAU's offensive line has been rocked with injuries early on, losing Reggie Bain for the season, Woods for the opener, Weiner against Miami and Parfitt against Kansas State. The unit struggled last week, ceding seven sacks to Miami.

Right tackle Kelly Parfitt (injured against Miami) will not play against the Wildcats, opening the door for more shuffling along the line. Against the 'Canes, Antonyo Woods moved from right guard to right tackle and Jakobi Smith played right guard. On Monday, Owls coach Charlie Partridge did not say if that would be the same alignment Saturday.

FAU has toyed around with the offensive line this week, rotating in a number of combinations. Offensive line coach Garin Justice said they have experimented with the idea of moving Dillon DeBoer from left tackle back to center to help solidify the middle of the line. He said Bryan Beck, Matt Weiner and Brandon Walton could fill in at tackle in that scenario.

The seemingly revolving doors up front have also created a challenge for offensive coordinator Travis Trickett, who said the changes on the offensive line "immensely" affect his play-calling.

"You got to try to find a way to do what they do best," Trickett said. "At the end of the day, we'll have five guys out there that are healthy and can go and whatever they can do best is what we're going to try to do."

Justice said that depending on what offensive line combination is playing, its strengths shift. For example, he said, if DeBoer is at tackle, the Owls may be a team that runs inside more. If DeBoer is at center, FAU may run outside to utilize his speed and quickness.

Trickett admitted he may have to help the offensive line by keeping a running back in to block, or using route-runners to chip rushers. The Owls could also get the ball out of quarterback Jason Driskel's hands quickly with short passes to the perimeter, a Kansas State weakness Trickett identified.
