Here's a giant article about why the Royals traded for rentals... he claims it's about finances. I started reading this, and he breaks down why they went after who they did instead of guys like Hamels, etc...
Then I started thinking, does this guy even watch the Royals or have any idea how this team is run?
He's so completely clueless, he writes off Guthrie next year saying, "I think its safe to assume the Royals will decline players options on Alex Rios and Jeremy Guthrie, requiring a total buyout for those players of $4.7 million next year. " Has he ever heard Ned? Does he not know the complete love-fest Ned has with Guthrie?
This guy clearly doesn't know what he's talking about, but he at least does a decent job of breaking down some of the expensive payrolls we'll be coming up to in the next few seasons, even though he under-estimates it greatly if he just assumes guys like Guthrie and his $10 million won't be around.
