-ISU was flat hitting difficult shots in first half. Everyone knew they couldn't continue. K-State teams of past would of fell down 10+.......then would of had to slowly climb back in it when the cool down came. Instead, Cats stayed right with them. Felt really good at half.
-Some good defensive moves by K-State in 2nd half. Loved the zone. Can get you to stand around and settle for shots late in shot clock (yes, I just said it was inevitable that ISU would cool down, but still).
-Big three.....wow. Man, Wade brings so much other than his scoring. His early assists were things of beauty. Then, him stretching the floor, brought their young stud shot blocker (Lard?) out of the paint.....allowed Brown to get to the rim. I like the small line-up with Wade against teams with that crazy shot blocker (TX comes to mind).
-Mentioned above, but Brown is truly evolving. Loved the steals.....but he's starting to get to the rim very effectively. Have shooter (Stokes) and penetrater (Brown) and great passer (Wade). Obviously, all three can do a little of each. Wild card is Sneed. I really like his confidence, though. Stayed with it and hit some very big shots last night.
-I've said it a lot this year, defensive and rebounding will be the key this year. I like how Weber at least tries to mix it up a little. Maybe at very least, make up for marginal defense by keeping other team out of sink a little. Although ISU is out-rebounding their opponents for the year, they aren't a good rebounding team. Did win the rebounding margin by one last night (34-33).
-WVU is doable with our smaller line-up and the fact that we have athletic finishers. In fact, I bet we are favored. We can put five decent ball handlers on the court vs. that pressure. I'm really hoping the locals show up and we can get some atmosphere.
