I'm right here
when he hired Weber. I am convinced we were about to be hammered by the NCAA over Huggins/Martin transgressions and/or Bob Knight behavior embarrassment to the school.

Currie needed more than anything else a new coach that would not make things worse with the NCAA and change our image. After 3 seasons, the trail has gone cold for the NCAA, and they have different schools with more immediate problems. (Hopefully one is KU). Weber was the perfect hire, the anti-Huggins/Martin. Can't think of anyone with a cleaner image.

My opinion--Currie needed clean more than wins, and if Weber delivered wins, so much the better. Now I think the coast is clear and Currie is free to make a more aggressive hire. Won't be surprised if he pulls the trigger.
