And at times they have performed poorly. But I thought that our defense would be good but not great. Looking back it would seem that if our defense had been able to hold up we would have at least a couple of more wins at this point. Yesterday seemed to imply that we lack speed. It also seemed to be reactive rather than proactive. It is like we are on our heels waiting for the other team to blow by us, which has happened all too often.
I appreciated the play of Duke Shelly in the Baylor game where he went for the ball but got burnt. Even if the Baylor player had caught the ball and fallen down on the spot they would still have had a first down. He tried to prevent that and was a fraction too late. But is was proactive.
The bottom line for me is that I don't really think our players are as bad as they have played.
