Once upton time, K-State was teased with the nick name JUCO U.
In the 90s, K-State was the king of juco recruiting.
The CATS would typically have 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 Top 50 juco recruits... if you could even find a juco ranking list.

How times have changed.
OU has three Top 50 juco recruits
Tennessee has four Top 50 juco recruits (three in the Top 12)
TCU has three juco recruits in Top 18 (six in the Top 71)
Utah has three Top 53 juco recruits (five in the Top 100)

Of course Bama has one of the two 5 star rated juco recruits
Miss State and Kentucky each have 3 Top 100 juco recruits.
21 of the Top 100 juco recruits are SEC bound (five of the Top 10).

There are still 18 undecided Top 100 juco recruits.

So far in this year's class, K-State has one Top 100 juco recruit = #75 - Pringle WR.
Last year, K-State had one Juco Top 100 players = Olomua (#65). Olomua should compete for playing time in 2016 after red-shirting this past season.

I'm not so sure K-State voluntarily moved away from juco recruits, it seems like the competition for juco players has went through the roof.

Of course K-State fans know as well as anyone, that juco recruits are no different than high school recruits, sometimes they don't pan-out. Still, I find it very interesting to see how juco recruiting has changed across college football.

Speaking of not panning out = in 2014, K-State landed a good juco class 4 in the Top 50 = McDaniel, Clinkscales, Derricot, Luke Hayes (and Riddle). Hayes was okay ... McDaniel was injured this year.
Clinkscales, Derricot, & Riddle = did not work out.

GO STATE !
