Remember the phrase to “Calm the waters”? After the 2013 season, the waters were very calm after winning the BWW bowl. KSU had a lot of returning players including Lockett & Waters. This is an even better time for Bill to retire. Back in 2013, he hadn’t been diagnosed with Cancer & was obviously younger than he is now. There wasn’t the fighting between the staff & people all over the fan base questioning his assistants & the play calling.

KSU will have their returning offensive line, starting running back, & two quarterbacks who both started games in 2017. KSU will have beaten a bad, but nationally recognized bowl team in UCLA. Bill will essentially still be able to go out “On Top”.

I’m afraid that if Bill does come back, then things will end up badly, either by another 2015 season, or a season like this year, but with a different outcome. KSU had 3 QB’s that were very capable of starting this year. What if both Delton & Thompson get hurt next year, ISU & WVU don’t completely shit the bed against KSU & KSU doesn’t get in to a bowl game by going 6 – 6? If that does happen, then the people calling for Bill to retire will be even louder & have more people behind them next year.

Yes, anything can happen & injuries are part of the game. Which is why this is a Perfect time for him to ride off in to the sunset. He will still be revered by KSU fans & college football fans everywhere. He won’t go out like his friends Paterno & Bowden did. He will go out a winner.
